Industry In Namakkal

Industrial sectors like Textile Industry, Transport industry, Poultry units, Sago & Starch Industry and the allied activities of these sectors are predominant in Namakkal District.Twenty Large Scale Industries and 17007 registered Small Scale Industries are existing at present in Namakkal District. There is a good scope to promote much more industries in the above said categories in Namakkal District.The Government of India has formulated and streamlined the structure of Industries as cottage Industry, Handicrafts Industry, Small Scale Industry (SSI), Tiny sector in SSI, Large & Medium Scale Industry which is categorised by the investment in Plant & Machinery. The unit that invested within Rs.1 crore (Rs. 10 million) in Plant & Machinery is coming under SSI sector and when the value exceeds more than 1 crore, it is coming under Large-scale sector. The SIPCOT is taking care of the growth of the Large-scale sector unit and the SSI sector units, Cottage & Handicrafts units and Tiny Sector units are being covered under the Industries and Commerce Department.District Industries Center is preparing the Industrial Action Plan for the District once in five years for the growth of Industries. It is also conducting the SSI Motivation campaigns in all Blocks so as to create an awareness among the enthusiastic entrepreneurs to promote new Industries.The entrepreneurs who decide to start SSI Unit may obtain the Provisional SSI Certificate in the beginning. A separate provisional SSI application form costs Rs.20/- and shall be obtained from the District Industries Center. Provisional SSI Certificate will be issued to the entrepreneurs, which will be valid for five years. A specimen application form is enclosed. It is much useful to the entrepreneurs in availing Power connection, Term loan and other licenses, which are necessary to start an Industry. Before starting a SSI unit the unit-holder has to obtain local body license after getting the clearances with several other Government departments concerned. To obtain the above said clearances, the entrepreneur shall approach District Industries Center by enclosing relevant no. of Blue prints of the unit. The District Industries Center will send these copies to the concerned departments and get clearances for the unit holder and after getting the clearances, the same will be forwarded to the local body authorities for issuing license and in time the local body license is issued to the entrepreneur.If any delay occurred in getting clearances from the departments for more than 30 days, the DIC place such cases before the Single Window Clearance Committee Meeting, which is conducted every month under the Chairmanship of the District Collector. Concerned department officials and the entrepreneurs are invited for the above meeting and the problems in issuing clearance/license if any, will be discussed and cleared on the spot itself. As such, it is much useful to the entrepreneur in getting the local body licenses and power connection etc. A specimen application is prescribed for the above purpose, which is free of cost, can be obtained from the District Industries Center.
